Shipt's AI Assistant Hops on the Delivery Bandwagon

AI in the shopping cart? It’s not just for Teslas anymore.

Shipt, the same-day delivery platform owned by Target, has unveiled its latest innovation: an AI shopping assistant called ‘Ask Shipt’. This tool aims to make online grocery shopping more intuitive and personalized, allowing users to create customized shopping carts with just a few voice commands. The feature enables shoppers to request a cart for a Saturday tailgate or simple school lunches, or even upload a photo of a dish to have the AI identify and add the ingredients to their cart. Users can also receive budget-based meal suggestions, ensuring that their shopping experience is both convenient and cost-effective.

Joining Shipt in this AI-driven revolution is Instacart, which has launched its own AI-powered assistant called Clementine. Meanwhile, Uber Eats and DoorDash have introduced similar AI features to enhance their delivery services. As these platforms continue to integrate AI into their apps, the future of online shopping looks increasingly automated and personalized.

The launch of Ask Shipt follows the recent addition of other AI features on Target.com, such as AI-powered photo search and personalized customer review summaries. These enhancements are part of a broader trend towards making online shopping experiences more seamless and user-friendly. By leveraging AI, these companies are not only improving the shopping experience but also making it more efficient and tailored to individual needs.
