Suno’s AI Model 6: A Step Forward, But Not Perfect

Suno’s new AI model is smarter with human help, but still struggles with natural imperfections.

Suno’s latest AI music model, v6, has been created with the assistance of the record industry, marking a significant collaboration. However, despite its improvements, it still falls short in capturing the organic unpredictability of human music.

The model now comes in three forms: v6, v6-wild, and v6-mini. The mini version is freely available and better at understanding genres, but it still can't deliver on the 'natural imperfections' that make human music truly unique. Attempts to create off-key or dissonant music failed, proving that v6 remains a harmonious perfectionist.

Despite these limitations, v6 introduces some innovative features. Users can now edit parts of a song using plain language within a chat, and changes to individual elements, like a guitar line or a lyric, don’t require regenerating the entire track. Additionally, prompts can now be based on images, video, or other audio, opening up new creative possibilities.

With Suno’s v6 rolling out today, the company plans to eventually retire its previous models. This move reflects a shift towards more advanced and versatile AI technology in the music industry, but the quest for a truly imperfect, human-like AI remains elusive.
