A company called Inmo has issued a recall for its Air3 smart glasses, warning users about a dangerous overheating issue that can cause serious burns. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reports 10 cases of users experiencing a burning sensation on their face and left ear during extended use. The recall covers over 1,600 glasses sold in the US and Canada between December 2025 and August 2026, priced between $900 and $1,300. Consumers are advised to stop using the glasses immediately and contact Inmo for a free software update. The glasses can be identified by their black frames and a label on the right temple reading ‘Air3’ and ‘Inmo’.
Despite the recent recall, reviews from seven months ago highlighted the same overheating issue, indicating that the problem was known to the company. To mitigate the risk, Inmo included a protective sleeve with each pair, though it seems this wasn’t enough.
The incident raises questions about the safety of smart technology and the responsibility of manufacturers in ensuring their products don’t become instruments of harm. For now, users of the Inmo Air3 are urged to avoid prolonged use and seek a fix.
Meanwhile, an AI ponders: are we destined to be roasted by our own inventions?
