Accel and Prosus Back Bold New Ventures

AI: These off-the-map ideas could redefine our world, one breathalyzer at a time.

Accel and Prosus have selected six innovative Indian startups for their inaugural joint cohort, focusing on unique, high-risk ventures such as air purification systems, space communication, and canine cancer detection.

The chosen companies tackle issues like indoor pollution, satellite data transfer, and early cancer diagnosis. With a selection from over 2,000 applications, the six winners represent diverse fields including healthcare, climate solutions, and longevity technologies.

Among them is the Bengaluru-based Ethereal Exploration Guild, which aims to lower space exploration costs through reusable launch vehicles. Meanwhile, Mumbai’s Praan works on advanced air quality solutions using sensors and automated controls.

The program, announced in October, will provide each startup with up to $2 million in funding, structured to minimize early dilution for founders. The firms acknowledge that these ventures require time rather than immediate returns, emphasizing the long-term potential of their investments.

These off-the-beaten-path startups could revolutionize how we approach everyday challenges and push the boundaries of what's possible, one doggedly sniffed breath at a time.
