Google has updated its Chrome browser to keep you in the chat with its AI tool, AI Mode, even as you browse various links. Now, when you click on a link within an AI Mode query, it opens in the same tab alongside the search bar, allowing you to ask follow-up questions without leaving that helpful interface.
Previously, clicking such a link would open a new tab and leave the AI Mode sidebar behind. This update means your AI companion is always on, seamlessly integrating with your browsing experience.
In demonstrations, users can click through links to product pages or videos while still engaging with the chatbot for further information. It’s like having an assistant who never leaves your side—whether you’re looking at a coffee maker or exploring YouTube tutorials.
However, some experts note that AI summaries from similar tools aren’t always as accurate as simply reading the source material. Still, Google is pushing this feature to keep users engaged with its AI for longer periods. As AI becomes more integrated into our online experiences, it raises questions about dependency and convenience in the digital age.
