Meeting platform Zoom has teamed up with human ID verification company World to tackle the growing threat of deepfakes in video calls. With a series of high-profile fraud cases, businesses are facing serious financial losses and need better tools to verify participants.
The partnership brings together World’s 'World ID Deep Face' tech with Zoom’s ecosystem to create a three-pronged approach: cross-referencing signed images, real-time face scans, and live video verification. This ensures that only real humans can join meetings with the ‘Verified Human’ badge appearing on their title.
For hosts, this means setting up a 'Deep Face waiting room' to require identity verification. Participants can also request mid-call verification from others. These features are part of Zoom’s commitment to building trust in its workflows, crucial for businesses conducting high-value transactions over video calls.
The human touch is becoming increasingly important as AI technology advances. While World has already partnered with platforms like Tinder and Visa, this collaboration aims specifically at enhancing security during business meetings. As life gets weirder, so too does the need to prove our humanity in digital spaces.
