Google Expands Gemini in Chrome to Seven New Countries

Is AI about to become your digital sidekick, or just another tool for data collection?

Google has extended its Gemini integration into the Chrome browser across seven new markets: Australia, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea and Vietnam. This move follows previous expansions to the U.S., India, Canada, and New Zealand in March.

The feature includes a sidebar assistant that helps users answer questions and perform tasks, such as scheduling meetings with Calendar or checking location details with Maps. Users can also transform images using Nano Banana 2 within Chrome. However, some advanced features like the agentic mode are currently only available to paid plans.

As AI integration becomes more seamless in everyday web browsing, it remains to be seen whether this will enhance user experience or raise concerns about privacy and autonomy.
