Sam Altman's startup Tools for Humanity has hit a snag when it announced plans to partner with Bruno Mars for its Concert Kit project. The company was set to provide verified ticket access and exclusive experiences during the tour, but Live Nation and Bruno Mars Management quickly dispelled any notion of such a partnership.
The confusion arose from an event in San Francisco where Tiago Sada, chief product officer, touted the tool's potential for the Mars tour. However, as the dust settles, Tools for Humanity now confirms it has no deal with either party and will instead focus on Jared Leto’s Thirty Seconds to Mars in 2027.
The revelation adds a twist to the narrative, especially considering Tools for Humanity's aim is to combat online scams using blockchain technology. The startup has also been vocal about its plans to tackle the bot issue that plagues sites like Ticketmaster, which is owned by Live Nation. This could be seen as more than just a mere coincidence.
Despite the backlash, Tools for Humanity remains optimistic. At its Lift Off event, it secured endorsements from major brands such as Tinder and Zoom, aiming to solidify its identity verification technology's legitimacy. However, the Mars partnership fiasco might make some wonder if AI is indeed the new bot in town or just another misstep in the quest for innovation.
