Google has expanded its Live Translate feature to iOS, bringing real-time translations via headphones to users in the U.S., India, Mexico, Germany, Spain, France, Nigeria, Italy, the United Kingdom, Japan, Bangladesh and Thailand. This means you can now enjoy dinner conversations with relatives who speak another language or understand train announcements while traveling abroad without skipping a beat.
The tech giant’s AI-powered translation feature works with any headphones and supports over 70 languages, turning your ears into an instant multilingual interpreter. By leveraging Gemini AI, the feature retains each speaker's tone, emphasis and cadence, making it easier to follow conversations.
Meanwhile, Google has also expanded its AI conversational search feature, Search Live, to all languages where AI Mode is available, with over 200 countries and territories set to benefit. This allows users to point their phone camera at objects for real-time assistance during back-and-forth conversations that draw on visual context.
The expansion of these features marks another step forward in making global communication smoother and more accessible. As AI continues to evolve, the potential for bridging language barriers grows ever wider, potentially transforming our interactions across countries and cultures.
