Many companies are leveraging AI as simple chatbots within apps. However, CopilotKit aims to take this further by enabling agents to live inside applications, understand user actions and provide interactive interfaces rather than just text-based responses.
The company’s AG-UI protocol standardises how these AI agents connect with UIs like web browsers or apps, offering features such as streaming chat, front-end tool calls, and state sharing. This allows developers to build more human-centric experiences.
CopilotKit has raised $27 million in a Series A round led by Glilot Capital, NFX, and SignalFire, to develop an enterprise toolkit based on AG-UI. The flexible user interface allows for dynamic UIs that can be tailored to specific companies’ needs, providing pie charts instead of dense paragraphs when responding to queries like revenue breakdowns.
With major AI infrastructure providers supporting AG-UI, CopilotKit is gaining traction among Fortune 500 companies and enterprise bigwigs such as Deutsche Telekom, Docusign, Cisco, and S&P Global. The company’s open approach aims to provide optionality and self-hosting for enterprises, differentiating itself from competitors like Vercel’s AI SDK.
