Swedish tech veterans have launched an ambitious enterprise AI venture, Pit, that aims to automate business processes with custom software. The company, led by ex-Voi CEO Fredrik Hjelm and former iZettle engineers, has secured $16 million from famous Silicon Valley firm a16z. Pit’s unique selling point is its ‘AI product team as a service’ approach, offering two key tools: Pit Studio for process guidance and Pit Cloud for enterprise-grade automation.
Adam Jafer, Pit’s CEO, highlights the shift in AI technology towards more agentic models that can perform complex tasks beyond mere chatbots. The startup is already testing its services with pilot customers in telecom, healthcare, logistics and other sectors, focusing on automating internal processes to free up human time for value-adding activities.
The move into a crowded market comes with challenges but also opportunities. Pit’s strategy includes hiring solution engineers to align with large enterprise clients’ expectations of outcomes over mere cost savings. Jafer reassures that the aim is not job cuts, instead positioning the service as a way to move people upstream in their careers.
While the all-male founding team initially sparked debate, Hjelm has since clarified the importance of diversity on his LinkedIn profile. However, the startup's journey remains promising, with strong backing from experienced entrepreneurs and investors who see potential beyond just financial gains.
