xAI's Last Co-Founders Depart

As xAI reboots, will it finally succeed where others failed? ????

Earlier this month, all but two of Elon Musk’s co-founders at his AI startup, xAI, were reported to have left the company. Now, according to Business Insider, Manuel Kroiss and Ross Nordeen—the remaining co-founders—have also departed.

Musk recently stated that xAI was 'not built right the first time around' and is now being ‘rebuilt from the foundations up.’ The company has been acquired by SpaceX, merging with both X (formerly Twitter) under one corporate umbrella as SpaceX reportedly plans to go public.

Kroiss led xAI’s pretraining team, while Nordeen was Musk's 'right-hand operator' and had previously worked at Tesla. He also played a role in planning major layoffs at Twitter after its acquisition by Musk in 2022.

Business Insider reports that both Kroiss and Nordeen left the company on separate days this week, leaving xAI with little backing from Musk's inner circle. TechCrunch has reached out for comment but no response was provided as of yet.
