Gemini Spark, Google's new 24/7 AI assistant, aims to streamline our digital lives by tackling tasks like organizing emails and creating packing lists. In practice, it offers useful features but falls short in some areas, such as compatibility with key productivity tools.
During my tests, the AI managed to find savings on a local shopping trip by suggesting deals and coupons, though one promo code turned out to be invalid. It also provided a well-rounded packing list for a day trip, recommending items like sunscreen and water. However, it couldn't access Google Keep, which was disappointing given its importance in personal productivity.
The AI’s search for summer activities for my child was promising but lacking in detail, as it failed to provide costs or dates of the programs. Its summary of newsletters also fell short by only returning four articles when five were requested. Despite these shortcomings, Spark demonstrated potential as a tool that could help with everyday digital tasks.
In conclusion, while Gemini Spark proves to be a handy assistant, more work needs to be done to make it truly indispensable in our daily lives.
