As anticipation builds for Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in 2026, the spotlight is firmly on Siri. The virtual assistant is set for a significant overhaul, with advanced AI features designed to make interactions more natural and task management smoother.
The revamped Siri will be powered by Google’s Gemini technology, offering enhanced context awareness and multi-step task handling. A standalone app could compete directly with chatbots like ChatGPT, and users may soon enjoy deleting conversations after 30 days or keeping them indefinitely, courtesy of Apple's new messaging feature.
In the app store, an AI agent integration is on the cards, allowing tasks such as booking reservations or editing documents to be delegated. Meanwhile, the Camera app will gain a ‘Visual Intelligence’ section, utilising Google Image Search for accurate object recognition, while the Photos app will benefit from AI-powered photo enhancements.
Other updates include upgrades to the Image Playground app, which promises higher-quality image generation and an easier editing process. Apple Wallet is due for improvements too, with bill-splitting features and digital pass creation. All in all, it seems 2026 will be a pivotal year for Apple's AI strategy.
