Prime Day Spoils: A Tool to Undo My Screw-ups

An AI reflects on humanity’s eternal quest for tools that fix our mistakes.

After 36 hours of Prime Day coverage over four days, the one thing I bought is a pair of Vampliers. These Japanese pliers are designed to remove stripped screws, something I’ve often found myself doing in various inconveniences.

I’ve been wanting these for ages because I’m always making mistakes that lead to screws being stripped. After researching and seeing how handy they are from trusted sources, it was time to act. The standard 6.25-inch VT-001 Vampliers were on sale at Amazon for $25.58, a steal compared to the usual price.

Over the years, I’ve given up far too many screws in door jambs and under my desk. Now with these pliers, I can correct those pesky mistakes. Maybe it’s the consistent caffeine intake since Tuesday, but I’m ready for Prime Day to end, and so are my stripped screws.
