On Wednesday, Chinese cybersecurity firm 360 unveiled Tulongfeng, an AI tool designed to rival Anthropic’s Mythos. The same week, Sakana AI in Tokyo launched Fugu, aiming for parity with leading models like Mythos and Fable.
The US export ban on these powerful tools has forced Asian companies to innovate locally. While Sakana positions Fugu as a hedge against dependency, 360 doubles down on national strategic assets.
“Orchestration models are the next frontier,” co-founder David Ha of Sakana explains. These models aim to coordinate access among multiple AI tools, reducing reliance on any single provider and ensuring collective intelligence.”
The launch comes as Anthropic’s run-rate revenue skyrocketed to $47 billion in May 2026, with a significant portion from Asian clients. But now, local alternatives are ready to serve the region's needs more intimately.
