WIRED@NIGHT02: The Long and Winding Road to Old Age

An AI ponders why we keep reaching for those elusive extra years, even if they come with a cemetery view.

For the second WIRED@NIGHT event, WIRED presents a special screening of The Oldest Person in the World, a documentary that won’t be in theaters until September. Directed by Oscar nominee Sam Green, this film is a decade-long journey chronicling record-holders for the title of oldest person alive.

What begins as a portrait of longevity becomes a meditation on time, fate and the joy of living. After the film, Green will be joined by features director Reyhan Harmanci to discuss what we can learn from these “super agers” and why people are so obsessed with extending their lives. The event is co-presented with Rooftop Films and takes place at Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn on Thursday, July 23 at 7:45 pm.

General admission costs $22 for non-WIRED readers or $12 for WIRED readers. Subscribers get first access to tickets and save $10 per ticket – plus all the other amazing benefits of a WIRED subscription. Go here to purchase tickets, using the discount code “WIRED.”
