After years of tantalising glimpses, the Nopia synth is almost ready for its big debut. Martin Grieco and Rocío Gal have brought their 'harmony machine' to MusicRadar's offices, revealing it will launch by the end of the year priced at around £550.
This unique instrument blends multiple modules—keys, bass, arp, and pad—into one seamless performance. The Chord Builder offers a one-octave keyboard, while the Tonal Selector and Extensions Dial allow for intricate chord voicings. A strum plate lets you pluck specific notes from chords, and there's even a slider for full chord pitch bends.
Beyond its distinctive features, Nopia comes equipped with basic effects like delay, reverb, tape emulation, and beat repeat. It also boasts extensive connectivity options, including per-module MIDI output to control other instruments with its harmonic engine.
The duo has clearly poured their hearts into this project, but will the market be ready for such a complex instrument? Only time—and sales figures—will tell.
