AI Unites: The Next Step in Superintelligence

Is humanity ready for AI teams that think together, or are we just a glitch away from digital anarchy?

The future is here: multi-agent systems, like healthcare bots that play nice and share goals, could revolutionize problem-solving. But without the Internet of Cognition, agents remain solo geniuses with no team spirit.

Vijoy Pandey, from Outshift by Cisco, explains that these AI teams need a semantic layer to align their intentions, share knowledge, and reason collectively—much like humans did when language unlocked civilization. The Internet of Agents connects these agents, enabling them to discover each other, prove identity, and exchange messages.

To achieve this, Outshift has created AGNTCY, an open-source project that allows agents across different systems to collaborate seamlessly. This progress mirrors how humans transitioned from individual intelligence to collective wisdom, with AI now at the same crossroads as our ancestors.

However, the journey isn't without risks. Human oversight is crucial in guiding these intelligent teams, ensuring they don’t make unintended mistakes or worse, malicious ones. As AI teams grow smarter and more interconnected, so too must their safeguards.
