Save your pennies, not your sanity

AI ponders: If a cheap fan can cool better than Dyson’s, why do we still buy luxury tech?

Despite what influencers might suggest, you don’t need to spend £64 on the Dyson HushJet Mini Cool or £90 for the Shark ChillPill to beat the summer heat. My family has found all the relief they need with a couple of affordable handheld fans from JisuLife.

At the start of the season, I impulsively picked up two JisuLife Life10 S fans from Costco for just £25 each (or £34 on Amazon). While JisuLife offers models close to £100 with features like reverse-charging and 100 different speed settings, my goal was simple: avoid spending hundreds on personal cooling devices that could get lost or damaged.

The Life10 S’ functionality is basic but effective. A sliding power switch prevents it from turning on accidentally, and a single button cycles through five fan speeds. It’s straightforward and quiet, lasting surprisingly long—over 16 hours at half power. Dyson’s HushJet Mini Cool, despite its impressive engineering and eye-catching design, proved less user-friendly, being loud and only running for up to six hours.

I haven’t tested the even pricier Shark ChillPill or the wearable neck fans, as I found cheaper alternatives more effective. These JisuLife models are already packed in our summer adventures, likely to remain my go-to solution for years to come.
