Perplexity has extended its Personal Computer tool to Windows, enabling users with Microsoft’s most popular operating system to harness local file access and applications through an on-device artificial intelligence. This new version operates much like the Mac version launched in April, acting as a ‘general-purpose digital worker’ that can create documents and update spreadsheets.

Personal Computer for Windows integrates seamlessly with Microsoft Office 365 and web services, allowing seamless multi-platform task management. The tool has already made waves by integrating with Microsoft’s 365 workspace apps and Teams virtual meeting software in May. Now it aims to bridge the gap by running directly within the Windows environment.

Designed for enterprise use where work often happens locally on Windows devices, this AI system offers a local solution that avoids cloud limitations. ‘Now Microsoft users can ask Computer to work across their local files, Microsoft Office 365 and the web in one place,’ Perplexity says, highlighting its user-friendly approach.

The new tool is rolling out today to paying Max and Enterprise Max users for $200 per month, with a promise of data privacy. Personal Computer for Windows always notifies users before performing sensitive actions such as sending emails or deleting files.
