Tesla and SpaceX Bet Big on Chip Future

Will robots really run the world, or just our chips?

Tesla and SpaceX have announced plans to build a massive chip factory in Grimes County, Texas, underpinning Elon Musk's ambitious tech vision.

The project, named Terafab, will invest $16.8 billion in building an unprecedented facility that could house over 100 million square feet of manufacturing space. The companies claim it will significantly boost global chip supply for future computing needs, including self-driving cars and AI data centers.

While Intel has promised to contribute, the extent remains unclear. Local school district officials hope the project will benefit students, but many residents remain sceptical about the environmental impact of Terafab.

Musk envisions a future where computing power is the key to everything from self-driving cars to AI training centers in space. The sheer scale of this venture suggests he’s not just dreaming.
