OpenAI has appointed Dali Rajic as chief revenue officer (CRO), replacing Denise Dresser after just nine months. This move follows the departures of COO Brad Lightcap and CEO Fidji Simo, with Greg Brockman taking on an expanded role in management.
The change-up is part of a broader strategy to align OpenAI’s technology deployment more closely with measurable business impact. The company aims to build out its full system for making AI broadly useful, according to Brockman's blog post.
Despite reaching over one billion weekly active users and two million businesses, OpenAI may be seeking to refine its focus on enterprise deployment following Sam Altman’s comments about cutting back on distracting projects. This week, the company also purchased $7 billion worth of shares from employees in a tender offer, hinting at potential delays in an IPO.
The replacement CRO comes as OpenAI prepares for what may be a pivotal moment in its journey towards becoming publicly traded. The tech giant’s largest-ever acquisition this year adds further context to the company's strategic pivot.
