Relay, an AI workflow automation tool that launched in 2021 with ambitions to be the new Zapier, is shutting its doors. Its founder and CEO Jacob Bank will rejoin his former tech giant, Google, as VP of Product for Chrome.

The move comes after a turbulent year for Relay, including an initial shutdown announcement back in July. For paying customers access will close on 14 September; free users lost it weeks earlier in August.

Bank’s return to Google is part of the tech giant’s ongoing push into AI and productivity tools, following its Gemini integration that now boasts over a billion users. With Bank leading Chrome’s product and developer relations teams, expect big changes ahead for how we work with artificial intelligence online.
