Particle, the startup behind an AI newsreader app, is turning its focus to a potentially more lucrative venture: indexing podcasts. On Wednesday, they launched Radar, a search engine that transcribes and understands spoken content in podcasts, making key quotes and highlights accessible.
The service has already caught interest from high-paying customers like hedge funds and AI search platforms, who see value in accessing data previously hidden from automated systems. Particle’s co-founder Sara Beykpour explains how this tech could help businesses track mentions of entities across thousands of episodes daily, with customizable alerts for specific topics or guests.
Radar now indexes over 130,000 podcasts, including the top 200 Apple podcasts, and adds new content every day. It goes beyond simple transcription by understanding the context, tracking mentions of people and brands, and even offering clips with timestamps. This innovation could revolutionize how businesses and researchers interact with audio media.
The pricing model is flexible, starting at $29 per month for one seat and $399 per month for up to 20 seats with more features. Particle is also looking ahead to expanding the service to include other forms of audio content like YouTube videos.
