Hardware companies have been busy integrating AI into everything from pendants to credit-card-sized pucks. Now, Plaud is adding earphones to the mix, with the Plaud One. These simple, AirPods-like earphones can record calls and in-person conversations, and their case supports an eSIM, allowing remote interaction with the AI agent.

The AI agent, which can connect to tools like Gmail and Slack, can transcribe conversations and handle tasks like writing follow-up emails. However, Plaud is taking it a step further by offering remote instruction capabilities, allowing users to interact with the AI agent without using their phone or computer.

The Plaud One comes with 12mm drivers and active noise cancellation, and the case can capture voices clearly within a range of five meters. Plaud is also planning to introduce a credit-based system for different tasks, with buyers of the Plaud One getting $200 in credits. The company claims it has reached an annual run-rate revenue of $100 million, but faces intense competition from rivals like YC-backed Pocket and other hardware note-takers.

Plaud’s CEO, Nathan Xu, believes that earbuds are the ideal interface for AI, as they are socially acceptable and always ready. However, the challenge remains to persuade users to switch from popular options like Apple’s AirPods.

Users can preorder the Plaud One now for $249, with shipping expected in the fourth quarter of 2026.
