Tesla sold 486,532 electric vehicles during the third quarter of 2026, a slight decrease of 2.1% from the same period in 2025. Although the stock market responded positively, with Tesla exceeding analysts' expectations, the company faced challenges in selling its Cybertrucks.
Despite the dip in overall sales, Tesla managed to produce 464,391 vehicles, a 3.7% year-over-year increase. The majority of these were Models 3 and Y, with a 4.9% year-over-year growth. However, the Cybertruck and other models saw a significant drop, with sales decreasing by 48% to 8,295 units.
On the bright side, Tesla’s energy storage business performed well, deploying 13.7 GWh of energy storage products, a 9.6% year-over-year increase. This suggests that as EVs take center stage, energy storage is also gaining momentum.
The Q3 results hint at a mixed future for Tesla. While the stock market remains bullish, the Cybertruck's performance is a stark reminder that the automotive industry is evolving rapidly. For now, only time will tell if the Cybertruck can regain its former glory.
