The latest laptops from Dell, Lenovo, MSI, HP and Asus, powered by Nvidia’s RTX Spark chip, are set to challenge the high-end MacBook Pro market, but at a price that could make your head spin.
The flagship Surface Laptop Ultra, along with the RTX Spark models, starts at a mere £1,749 for configurations with an 18-core CPU, 24GB of unified memory, and 512GB of storage. However, the top-of-the-line Asus ProArt P16 with a 20-core chip, 128GB of unified memory, and 2TB of storage clocks in at an eye-watering £4,499.99.
Despite the eye-watering cost, these laptops are clearly aimed at high-end creators and those using local AI, with RAM that could bankrupt a small country. Yet, with the steep prices, it’s unclear if the tech-savvy will be willing to plunk down the cash for these machines.
Meanwhile, the Surface Laptop Ultra remains an enigma, with its preorder page featuring only an email sign-up for updates. A 48GB model on Best Buy, however, is priced at £2,699.99.
Will these high-end machines prove their worth, or will they end up gathering dust on the showroom floor? Find out soon, as they launch this month, with the earliest release date set for October 16th.
