SpaceX has reported a significant revenue jump to $14.6 billion in Q3, up 161% year-over-year, with its AI segment, dubbed ‘Super Intelligence’, driving much of the growth. The company’s SI business alone generated $431 million, up 830% year-over-year, thanks to new cloud service deals and the acquisition of Cursor. SpaceX’s Connectivity business added another $2.4 billion, with 13.6 million Starlink subscribers, while its Space division, despite a $7 million loss, saw a 6% year-over-year growth in revenues.
During the earnings call, CEO Elon Musk hinted at SpaceX’s plans for an AI-powered terrestrial mobile network, possibly merging Tesla and SpaceX. Musk also noted that SpaceX’s Starlink could generate ‘several hundred billion dollars a year’, reflecting the company’s growing confidence in its AI and space ventures.
This latest earnings report comes days after SpaceX’s $60 billion deal to acquire AI coding tool Cursor was officially closed, and just before the official launch of a new V5 Starlink residential dish. The 13th successful launch of Starship and plans to catch Starship and its booster next month further highlight SpaceX’s ambitious plans.
The company’s president, Gwynne Shotwell, previously hinted at building a terrestrial mobile network to compete with T-Mobile, AT&T and Verizon, underlining the tech giant’s expanding horizons beyond space and AI.
