PC hardware company NZXT and its billing partner, Fragile, have agreed to a $3.45 million settlement following a class-action complaint regarding NZXT's Flex PC rental program.
The program, launched in August 2024 with prices as high as $279 per month, attracted criticism for overpriced rentals and misleading advertising about the quality of components provided to customers.
Customer complaints centered on receiving substandard PCs compared to advertised specifications and concerns over data privacy when returning devices. NZXT acknowledged issues in their blog posts and promised changes but faced further legal action after three customers sued in August 2025, alleging fraud through misrepresentations about the rental program's nature.
The settlement comes as a relief for disgruntled consumers but raises questions about transparency and consumer protection in tech rentals. NZXT has vowed to address concerns, yet the saga highlights a broader issue of tech companies making promises they can't keep while reaping financial benefits.
