Prediction platform Polymarket has expanded its partnership network by teaming up with Major League Baseball (MLB) as the official prediction market partner. This deal grants Polymarket exclusive access to MLB data and allows it to use league logos in products, while also offering brand visibility at games and through digital channels.
The partnership comes after a series of major deals, including tech giant Google and Palantir, soccer’s Major League Soccer (MLS), and hockey’s Major League Hockey. MLB chairman Michael Selig has signed a memo with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to share information related to baseball and prediction markets.
MLB had previously expressed concerns about how prediction markets could impact sports audiences, leading to a letter to the CFTC in 2021. The new partnership is framed as an effort to enforce integrity standards within the platform. Polymarket was previously banned from operating in the U.S., but has been active since September when regulatory roadblocks were eased.
The announcement underscores Polymarket’s strategic focus on expanding its reach and ensuring compliance, aiming to capitalize on the growing interest in sports prediction markets while maintaining integrity within the industry.
