Ultrahuman is back in the US market after a brief absence due to a patent dispute with Oura. The company's new Ring Pro promises enhanced features and longer data storage but will it be enough to challenge Oura's dominance?
New hardware includes a redesigned heart rate sensor, dual-core processor for machine learning, and up to 250 days of local data storage compared to Oura’s seven-day limit. Ultrahuman aims to undercut its competitor by offering core health metrics without a subscription fee, charging only for premium tools like AFib detection and mental health support via BetterHelp.
The Ring Pro's Pro Charging Case offers up to 45 days of combined battery life and one year of on-device data storage. Additional features include Find My Case functionality, an LED battery indicator, and faster firmware updates.
Preorders are open until May 15 with the first 1,000 customers getting a discounted price. The Ring Pro will retail for $399 with the charging case at $100 or you can buy them together for $479. Four colour options are available: bionic gold, space silver, aster black and raw titanium.
With Oura controlling 74% of the market, Ultrahuman's return could signify a significant shift in consumer preferences. Only time will tell if its new features and pricing strategy can make waves in this crowded tech landscape.
