Samsung has raised the price of its Galaxy A37 5G and Galaxy A57 5G by $50, despite minor hardware upgrades. This follows the company's recent increase in flagship phone prices by $100, suggesting that cost pressures are spreading across their product lineup.
According to market analyst Jitesh Ubrani from IDC, brands like Samsung are likely facing significant memory shortages and higher costs due to geopolitical factors and global economic conditions. While these phones do gain some performance improvements through newer processors, the price hikes could make them less attractive to budget-conscious consumers.
The Galaxy A57 5G starts at $610 with 256GB of storage, while the Galaxy A37 5G can be yours for $540. Both phones offer a 6.7-inch display and improved battery life compared to their predecessors. The A57 also boasts slightly more advanced camera features and better connectivity options.
Despite these upgrades, Samsung hopes that value for money remains the primary driver for consumers in this price range. However, given the increasing trend of price hikes across tech devices, it might be time for users to reassess their priorities when upgrading their smartphones.
