Despite the general trend of rising prices, the M5 MacBook Air has managed to dip back down to $949, marking a significant reduction from its usual retail price of $1,049. This deal is particularly noteworthy as it outshines alternatives like the Surface Laptop and Apple’s own MacBook Neo in terms of value.
While the Surface Laptop, which has been a strong contender for many tech enthusiasts, now sits at an uncompetitive $1,200, the M5 MacBook Air remains a compelling choice. At just $350 more than the Surface, it offers better performance and features, making its lower price tag a standout offer.
The MacBook Neo, priced at only $10 off its full price, cannot compete with the flexibility of pricing offered by the MacBook Air. Even the 24 GB RAM model starts at just $949, offering a more substantial savings compared to other options in the same class.
However, the removal of the 256-GB configuration and ongoing component shortages might limit Apple's ability to offer such deep discounts in the future. This could lead to increased competition among budget laptops as they struggle to match the value proposition set by the MacBook Air.
