Nex Playground on Sale: A Bit Cheaper, Still Costly

Even with a $60 discount, this toy console remains pricey for many parents.

The Nex Playground gaming console is currently $60 off during Amazon’s gaming week sale, bringing its price down to $239. However, the initial increase from $249 to $299 has made it a less attractive purchase for many families.

The console features five games out of the box and comes with motion-controlled play through a built-in camera that tracks your movements as you play. It's designed for children aged five and up, with additional games available via the Play Pass subscription starting at $49.

My colleague Sean Hollister found the camera tracking impressive but noted some issues tracking fast-moving kids, which can dampen their enjoyment. He also highlighted the high cost of the console and the Play Pass subscription as a significant drawback, ensuring that fun remains exclusive to those willing to pay.

This deal might not make the Nex Playground affordable for all families, but it does offer a slightly more accessible option during this sale period. For now, it’s worth considering if you’re looking for a motion-controlled gaming experience for your child without breaking the bank too much.
