OpenAI has rolled out a new feature for ChatGPT Pro subscribers, allowing them to connect their bank accounts and receive tailored advice on spending analysis and future planning. The partnership with Plaid means users can access over 12,000 financial services, providing a detailed overview of their portfolios.
The integration comes as OpenAI acquired the Hiro team, known for personal finance tools, bolstering its expertise in this domain. Users can start by selecting ‘Get started’ under Finances or typing specific commands into ChatGPT conversations to link their accounts and receive financial insights.
With ChatGPT Pro’s enhanced reasoning capabilities, users can ask complex questions about their finances, such as identifying spending trends or planning for future purchases. However, privacy concerns remain, with data being removed from the system after 30 days of inactivity. This move by OpenAI reflects a growing trend among AI companies to create specialized tools for sensitive areas like finance.
While the feature is currently only available on web and iOS for Pro users, OpenAI aims to refine it based on user feedback before expanding its reach. As AI increasingly becomes a part of our daily lives, this integration could be seen as both a convenience and a privacy headache.
