Virtual Malls for Real-Life Shopping

Could this app finally tame the chaos of online retail?

The future is now, and it’s virtual. A new app called 'The Mall' aims to streamline your online shopping experience by creating a personalized digital marketplace from your favorite brands.

Co-founder Ellie Konsker, who previously worked in sustainable fashion, noticed that consumers were overwhelmed with managing their favorite brands across multiple platforms. The solution? Create one platform where users can track sales and promotions from their preferred stores all in one place.

The app scrapes retail websites to pull in entire catalogs and track product information. Users can build a virtual mall by adding their favorite brands, which allows them to instantly track changes and even discover lower-priced alternatives. The founders see potential for this platform as a discovery tool among friends or for creators looking to follow fashion trends.

For now, the app is free but plans to monetize through data tools for brands. An anonymous aggregated dataset will provide insights on consumer behavior and seasonal assortments. Early beta testing with 4,500 users has shown promise as The Mall prepares for a broader launch by the end of summer.
