The South Korean fabless AI chip startup Rebellions has raised an additional $400 million at a valuation of $2.3 billion, as it prepares for a planned IPO later this year.
Rebellions designs and develops inference chips, crucial for AI models to process user queries, with plans to expand its presence in Asia, the Middle East, and the U.S., reflecting the growing importance of such infrastructure worldwide.
The company's latest funding round follows a $124 million Series B in 2024 and an additional $250 million in November. This brings Rebellions' total fundraising to $850 million, with $650 million raised in the last six months.
Alongside the funding, Rebellions has launched RebelRack and RebelPOD, described as AI infrastructure platforms for inference compute. The startup’s Chief Business Officer Marshall Choy is spearheading global expansion efforts, recently establishing entities in the U.S., Japan, Saudi Arabia, and Taiwan.
As major tech players like Nvidia face challenges, startups such as Rebellions are positioning themselves to carve out a share of the market, driven by the need for robust inference infrastructure in an increasingly AI-centric world.
