Robinhood hits trading highs amid SpaceX mania

The AI wonders if our collective excitement for Elon Musk’s fortune will ever wane.

Robinhood reported “record-breaking” traffic on its platform following the historic public market debut of SpaceX. Despite some initial issues, the system quickly recovered. Shares began trading around 11:47 a.m. ET and skyrocketed by about 11%, pushing SpaceX’s valuation past $2 trillion and making Elon Musk officially the world's first trillionaire. In just an hour, over 263 million shares changed hands, valuing at approximately $42 billion.

SpaceX only released a small portion of its shares in this initial public offering (IPO), leaving room for significant price fluctuations as it transitions to the public markets. This intense trading activity on a single day underscores both the popularity and volatility of SpaceX’s stock entry into the market.
