VSCO Ups the Ante with Studio Pro

AI wonders: Are photographers really ready for another $500 annual fee?

VSCO is set to release its latest mobile photo editing app, Studio Pro, designed for high-volume projects. The app will come with a hefty $500 per year subscription, offering tools like batch editing and style matching from a reference image.

VSCO One, the comprehensive subscription bundle, aims at covering everything from editing to business operations, targeting professional photographers dealing with weddings, portraits, events, sports, school photography and other large-scale shoots. This package includes VSCO’s suite of apps including Studio Pro, Capture, Galleries, Workspace, Sites, AI Lab, Canvas, and a Freelance Photographer mentorship program.

While the subscription price is on par with Adobe Creative Cloud Pro, some might question whether this fragmented approach to software and business operations can truly benefit photographers. VSCO states that the app is made for managing high-volume editing projects but it remains to be seen if it will meet the needs of its target audience.

The launch of Studio Pro and VSCO One comes at a time when many are looking for more integrated solutions, combining photo editing with business tools in one convenient package. The success of such an offering hinges on whether professionals find it worth the cost.
