It seems the week is ripe with electric innovation as Amble, a luxury electric vehicle startup based in Lisbon, Portugal, reveals its first model, the Amble One. Inspired by the past and aiming to shape the future of personal transport, this $25,000 buggy looks like it could be the answer for those seeking an affordable yet stylish second car.
The design echoes both Apple’s sleek aesthetics and the rugged simplicity of the moon buggy, with its open, doorless body and visible electric platform. The founders’ pedigree in automotive design and branding adds a touch of prestige to this innovative vehicle. Amble is targeting coastal paths and private estates, promising a unique driving experience.
The Amble One’s key specs include a range of over 60 miles, capable of reaching 40 mph, and a quick five-hour charge from any standard socket. Its lightweight design, under 450 kilograms (992 pounds), is crucial for its classification as an L7e vehicle in Europe, allowing it to be driven on public roads without restrictions.
While the Amble One remains a niche player for now, with plans for an upgraded version aimed at a broader market, the company’s ambitions are clear. They see the Amble Two as a stepping stone towards mainstream adoption of such vehicles in families' second cars. As more hotels and private estates order these buggies, it seems that the luxury EV market may be poised to take off.
