Thanks to some good news for Framework Laptop 13 Pro preorders, the company has secured cheaper new PCIe Gen 5 SSDs. This means that those who have ordered with a 500GB SSD will now receive a more spacious 1TB at no extra cost. Additionally, you can now order configurations with either the new 1TB or 2TB SSDs onboard.
However, the silver lining comes with a catch. Framework warns that CPU prices are set to rise in the near future, which could lead to an overall price hike for their laptop line in coming weeks for new orders. It seems the component crisis is far from over.
The company initially announced the Laptop 13 Pro back in April and was originally slated to ship the first units in June. Yet, due to issues with the haptic touchpad and its custom display, Framework has delayed initial shipments until July.
Despite these challenges, it's clear that tech companies are navigating a tricky landscape where component prices fluctuate wildly, leading to unpredictable pricing for consumers. For now, preorders might be a good bet if you're in the market for a Framework Laptop 13 Pro.
