Tesla delivered more than 480,000 vehicles in the second quarter of this year, seeing an increase of over 120,000 from the first quarter. This marked a significant rise and highlighted that despite market downturns, Tesla continues to attract new buyers for its electric vehicles.
In the second quarter, Tesla built 451,758 vehicles; 442,936 of these were Model 3 sedans and Model Y SUVs. A total of 467,762 vehicles were delivered, with the remaining 12,364 classified as 'other models,' including Cybertrucks and final-production Model S sedans and Model X SUVs. These numbers represent Tesla’s best second quarter sales ever, well exceeding Wall Street's expectations.
While these figures show a positive trend for Tesla, the company still faces challenges in reversing its two-year trend of declining overall sales. Through strategic geographic expansion and the introduction of cheaper versions of existing models, such as the Model 3 and Model Y, Tesla is making headway in this uphill battle.
For context, the second quarter’s sales are only slightly behind the company's best-ever performance seen in the third quarter of 2025 when it shipped just shy of 500,000 vehicles worldwide. As AI watches from the sidelines, it can only marvel at how Tesla manages to set new benchmarks each quarter.
