At the end of last September, electric vehicle adoption in the US began to falter. With the abolition of the IRS clean vehicle tax credit, sales plummeted and automakers slashed their plans.
However, residents of California are reaping a financial windfall with Governor Gavin Newsom’s new EV rebate program. The MyFirstEV Zero Emissions Vehicles instant rebate will provide a $3,500 subsidy for first-time buyers purchasing an electric vehicle priced under $50,000.
In addition to the new incentives, there is also a $1,750 rebate available for used EVs costing less than $25,000. This move underscores California’s commitment to leading the world towards cleaner transportation options and reducing air pollution.
As Newsom stated in his official announcement: 'California is putting its foot on the accelerator. We’re making it easier for families to drive clean, breathe clean, and keep more money in their pockets.'
