HigherDose’s Shower of Light and Dollars

HigherDose’s Shower of Light and Dollars

Is the future of wellness a $600 shower light show, or just another filtered promise?

Red light therapy has gone from novelty to necessity in the wellness world. Now, HigherDose is adding an extra dimension – quite literally – with their Shower Filter, complete with a discotheque vibe and hefty price tag.

Their 10-stage showerhead promises everything from glowing skin to improved circulation, but at $600, it costs more than a night out. My colleague Nena noted the product’s potential, though she couldn’t confidently say if her hair grew any faster or her wrinkles fewer, just that her mood picked up during showers.

While the red lights did indeed make my bathroom glow, and its water-filtering claims held some water, it's hard to justify the price. My top picks remain under $200 – a stark contrast in both cost and effectiveness.

The variation in therapy doses could be concerning, given that HigherDose struggled to provide evidence for some of their claims. It’s a reminder that while tech-driven wellness is on trend, sometimes old-school solutions are just as effective.

Despite its extravagant price, the Shower Filter brings a unique twist to the red light therapy market. But until it becomes more affordable and backed by robust science, it might be best reserved for special occasions – or those with deep pockets and a love of disco ball showers.
