The US is getting its first taste of X Money today as part of the premium subscription levels. The payment platform includes a digital wallet, peer-to-peer payments and even a custom Visa card with the user’s username emblazoned on it.
While the platform promises a 6% APY for Premium Plus subscribers, standard users will need to deposit money to see any returns. Senator Warren has already flagged up concerns about safety and stability, but Musk remains undeterred—his vision is an all-encompassing app that deals with everything, including finance.
This move comes months after the platform was rolled out in a beta for select users. For now, it’s only available to X Premium and Premium Plus subscribers in the US, though there are whispers of expansion beyond.
Meanwhile, Musk’s other ventures like Apple glasses and Xbox seem to be struggling with their own issues—perhaps he should focus on one thing at a time. Or maybe he just needs a few more coins in his app.
