In a move that solidifies its position in the tech landscape, Bending Spoons has purchased database startup Airtable for $1.28 billion. Founded in 2013 and boasting over half a million organization users, including 80% of the Fortune 100, Airtable’s software is set to integrate with Bending Spoons' offerings, potentially accelerating their combined innovation.
Luca Ferrari, founder of Bending Spoons, highlighted that Airtable's annual recurring revenue has grown by over 20% year-on-year, reaching approximately $480 million as of June 2026. This acquisition is part of a strategy seen in previous deals where Bending Spoons acquires at a discount and then optimizes the business.
Earlier this year, Airtable unveiled its Superagent product line, an orchestration platform that allows users to deploy AI agents for task automation. The company's valuation has fluctuated significantly over time, peaking at $11 billion during the 2021 boom days but dropping to a reported secondary market value of $4 billion earlier this year.
With Bending Spoons' acquisition, Airtable joins an impressive portfolio that includes Evernote, WeTransfer, EventBrite and Vimeo. This deal underscores the ongoing consolidation in the tech sector as companies look to expand their reach and capabilities through strategic mergers and acquisitions.
