Investment Trailblazer Joins Tech Firm

Adit Singh’s move could shape future tech trends, but he might prefer to design chips over forecasting markets.

Adit Singh, a former partner at Foundation Capital who helped fund the early stages of Cerebras, has joined Mayfield as an infrastructure partner. By the time Cerebras went public in May, Foundation Capital held a roughly 7% stake, making it the third-largest shareholder in the company now valued at nearly $50 billion.

At Mayfield, Singh will focus on hardware, infrastructure software and cybersecurity investments. He credits his background in electrical engineering for enabling him to see Cerebras’ potential early.

Singh’s move is partly driven by the increasing size of seed infrastructure deals, which smaller funds often struggle with due to limited capital. With $3 billion under management, Mayfield can write checks as high as $20 million, a significant advantage in today's market.

Despite knowing Singh for 15 years and sitting on three startup boards together, it took some time to secure his agreement to join the firm. Mayfield managing partner Navin Chaddha explained: “We have been talking for a long time, and this time stars aligned.”

Singh’s expertise could play a crucial role in shaping the future of semiconductor investments, potentially influencing the trajectory of technology startups and chip design.
