Indian startups have long been masters of quick commerce, with Swiggy's Instamart leading the pack. Now, Walmart-owned Flipkart’s Minutes is making serious inroads, delivering 1.2 million orders daily against Instamart’s 1.4 million.
Blinkit and Zepto, established quick commerce leaders with 3.6 million and 2.6 million daily orders respectively, are feeling the heat. Flipkart has ramped up its network of micro-fulfillment centers from 600 to over 1,050 in two years, aiming for 1,500 by year-end.
Customer loyalty is growing; 65%–70% are repeat buyers. Flipkart plans to expand into gourmet products, targeting high-spending customers with organic and artisanal items. Delivery times have dropped from 13 minutes to a brisk 11.
The race heats up as Amazon similarly expands its instant delivery service, Amazon Now, doubling orders every quarter since launch. Both giants see quick commerce not just as an offensive move but also as a defensive one against specialist platforms.
