At Gamescom 2026, Genigods: Nezha takes centre stage as China's answer to God of War, blending mythology with cutting-edge tech.
Young Lau, producer at Genigods Lab, explains the game's unique selling point is its cinematic fluid simulation, making water and clay combat a fluid experience. While early, the demo shows promise, with auto-combos and aerial combat reminiscent of Devil May Cry.
The game's art direction is celestial, with colossal stone giants and multi-headed dragons, much like Shadow of the Colossus. The first in a trilogy, Genigods: Nezha is set to debut on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, with the PS6 and Project Helix expected to fully realise its vision.
Genigods Lab's ambition is clear, but will their tech, developed with the animation studio behind global box office hits, truly transform real-time rendering? Only time will tell as the studio gets off the ground.
